Just spend as much time as you can with her. You can also put a mirror in her house secured so she can see herself it really will help comfort her.

Should the replacement duck be another female or does it matter?

Two or more females per drake is more ideal than one each, drakes can be rough in mating an over use just one female.

The mirror really helped. She thought it was another duck and talked to it.

It’s been a week and a half now and our one pekin seems to be doing ok and adjusting. We have noticed she doesn’t swim in the pool anymore. Also her tail feathers looked singed, burned. Weird.
