Like most, I go round & round with feeders, adding new coops, trying new feeder ideas, scrapping these, keeping those... anyway.. with all the rain, most homemade feeders haven't been working too well so I thought I'd buckle down and just get some feeders & be done with it.

$15 each

for the plastic ones with enough room to feed a small flock... so.. around the store I went again..

hubby found these mineral feeders for $4.99 each... 3 for the price of one of the "other" ones.. so I got all they had on the shelves

They really are awesome, hold up to 6 scoops of feed and are great & sturdy.. I will be cleaning out the other TSC when I get there. Totally great and I can use them in cages too with some zip or hooks.

I got a couple of these. We like them a lot. They are great to put in temporary pens as well. Reminds me I need to go get a couple more.....

Are you planning on covering them so they rain does not get in feed? I do not leave feed outside and there is no feed inside either. But mine free range and only get bag feed when it is time to shut up the coop for the night. With all the rain we had the past couple of days that has worked the best as nothing gets spoiled and it is all eaten when i open coop on morning.

What I am using is a puppy pan that is shaped like a flying saucer that I bought years ago. Works great holds enough for all of them for the one feeding. If you want to see it go to JB wholesale site for dogs and cats I have not been to it in a few years so cant remember what it is typed .

Tamara,
I've been tossing feed into pans like that for months now in most of the coops, but it really just doesn't work for me anymore, I don't like the idea of it, I feel better now that their food is up off the floor. Not to mention those trays have been creating these mold problems in the two coops that aren't really dried in. So it was vital in those two to get a better setup going. I've got another grow out pen, and I don't have a covered place to feed them from, so right now, I just go and scatter as much as they can eat in 15 minutes or so and repeat a couple times throughout the day.

I feed in the a.m. and sometimes again in the mid afternoon depending on how many chickens I've got. All feeders are well covered except a couple in what I deem 'temporary pens'.

They only take turns freeranging here, so that's why sometimes I head out and hand out another round of goods. I've got FAT chickens man... I'm trying to restrict the feed a little bit too
