low egg #'s

Hey all. I have low numbers too! Do you think it has to do with abnormal weather conditions everywhere?

Mine started slow, but now11 hens -9 one day 11 next. counting myself lucky.

HA ha ha. I have you all beat for low numbers. 19 egg laying age. 2 eggs today. TWO FREAKING EGGS! I'm going on strike! I'm not going to love them until I get more eggs! Right, like that would work.

My 10 BRs are down to 5 per day. During Jan/Feb, I had a lamp on 24/7 and was getting 8-9. One or two seem to be molting, so I'm hoping for a pick up soon. The eggs I am getting are nice size, though.

last year I was having the same problem. My chickens free range part of the day. It turns out I was letting them loose too early and they had found a nice little private spot to lay their eggs. I just started letting them out later, and they laid in the coop since then. Good luck finding out what the problem is.

A lot of places it has gotten hot really quick. The hens need time to adjust back to the heat and soon back in the swing of things. April my girls almost STOPPED laying. Now I'm back to getting 3/4 and sometimes 4/4. They are bantams and not that great of layers (rosecombs and cochins) so just give them time
