Low temps and tree roosting hens?

My turkeys roost outside in the cold, sleet, snow rain... they have a shelter but prefer to roost up in the joists in their covered pen... I also have 3 favorelle hens that have decided they are turkeys and will go up with them at night rather inside... crazy girls!!!

I raise games as well, previously in Indiana, and now in central Missouri. Some kept in Indiana roosted in trees year round where temperatures could get as low as -10's F. Birds in well fed state could handle such extremes just fine but some would switch from open broadleaf trees to conifers with better wind protection. Frost bite was occasional problem with single comb roosters but hens seldom had difficulties. Key is birds being in well fed state.
