Lrge Gash In Hens Side Think From Rooster

I have a large and old Brahma we call "mah ma". She received a gash from several Roosters trying to "top" her too much. It seems one was a bit too rough. We have NO fencing that is sharp for her to have caught herself on and the wound is almost exactly the way the reader above described it. Yes, mites are present too, but no foul odor. I will try the Teatree oil and vitamin C and keep her separate. Once question I have though.... I have 6 week old chicks that are just out growing the brooder and it would be very convenient to keep her in their cage. Would it be feasible to do so? And why would I have to quarantine her? Is it because of the mites? As it is she has basically stayed away from the roosters by staying in her roosting area.
