Hi Guys

Does any one have any idea whats the difference between LSL Lite (Lohman selected Leghorn) and White Leghorn?

Both of them are same, with just a different name or they are altogether different breeds?

How can we differentiate both of them?

Thanx

LSL Lites are a commercial strain of Leghorn. They are bred for low feed consumption and high egg production. If you were to compare them to regular hatchery leghorns, it would probably be the difference between a Thoroughbred racehorse and someone's back yard Thoroughbred.

Both are the same breed, and have potential for speed, but the racehorse has come from a looooong intensive breeding program to refine it down for one trait. 9 times out of 10, one will out-produce the other in that one area. Same with the two Leghorns you are talking about.

I'm curious where you have access to LSL Lites. They are normally never available for consumer access. Most commercial strains are copyrighted and jealously guarded by large egg corporations.

Hi Mate

thanx for your explanation. LSL as u said is a commercial breed but as we are running Poultry Medicine business in Pakistan, we have somewhat access to these hatcheries and big farms. But i got the birds from some other source, so i am curious like what did i get, is it White Leghorn or LSL. Being in Pakistan, i feel its easy to get LSL then the Leghorn.

So, its not possible to spot a difference between these two?
