I was looking at my scrap pile and found some Luan plywood I considered cutting supports for a set of chick roosts from. It is primed on one side.

Question: Is anybody familiar with that? Is it considered chick safe?

I could also cut the ends from cardboard. I have plenty of wood to make the actual roost from.

I am talking about chicks, not fully grown birds

besides, it is a plywood.....plenty strong.
I am just worried about the primed side of it.
It's not strong enough. It can be easily tipped over. Just use 2x or at least 1x stock.

I've used luan to build more than a few things.
The stuff I had was not primed, but I doubt it's toxic.

Got a sketch of what your are building?

kind of like this:
|------| so the chicks can sit on it before they move to grown-up accommodations.

I mean, you can buy those things made from corrugated plastic.
