Lucasville Flea Market 2014

I went sunday. Let me just say, holy cow it was so empty! SOPA posted they had over 60,000 people or something like that show up saturday. I guess everyone sold out and left. I liked how much more room there was on the paths, it seemed less crowded. I plan on going on saturday in June.

I saw the same showgirls im guessing. $75 for a trio. Not a bad price in my opinion for a breed thats still newer.
I didnt see many oegb this time either.

I went Saturday and the traffic was just as terrible as it ever was at Lucasville no different in the traffic jam problem because it was a bigger area. And as of chickens and animals in general it lacked at the Chillicothe flea market unless Friday was better than Saturday we walked 4 miles and came home with one black Cochin hen. And as of water fowl and goats they were not very much to pick from one lady had some goats their ears had been chewed off by something. I asked her if they were pygmy goats she said I don't know I can't tell you nothing much about what breed they are but they are $75 each. So I was looking for a female any how not a billie not one person out of what goats they had up there did not have one pure female pygmy goat. One other guy had some I asked him was they pygmy goats he said yea they are pygmy nigerian what ever you want to call them!! he said. And they didn't look nothing like my pure pygmy goat at all they had real long floppy ears and taller than my pygmy goat was my guess his were a Nubian breed to be more like it. Then the chicken breeds was terrible they didn't have nothing to compared to Lucasville on the poultry and geese,ducks last year and even goats. I don't think they had many animals up there this year I think most people that had the best chickens was at Lucasville I think the Ohio poultry association had the best chickens and the most Bantam breeds to pick from. So if you are into bantam breeds of chickens go to the the Lucasville one. I couldn't even find a poultry house at the Chillicothe Flea market Saturday I saw mostly flea market junk house stuff and yard stuff guns which were over priced you could go buy them new in a store for what they was asking for them used. $10 bucks for a baby guinea I paid $15 just for my black Cochin hen alone Saturday glad I needed her and she was beautiful and friendly or I wouldn't have bought her for that. Last year at Lucasville I got a pair of white Cochin Bantams for $15 bucks. The man I bought my black Cochin hen off of he wanted $30.00 a pair for black Cochins I really needed that hen he had beautiful Cochins too and you can tell she was hand raised timid and sweet just a big old pet she is. She was worth it though last year at Lucasville I did get a nice tame timid pari of white Cochins $15. But I did not get all I set out for so now I have emailed a few people trying to locate a pure female pygmy goat for my boy one and have emailed some people on some geese as well and I didn't see a Frizzle Bantam no place not a one or a Polish Bantam Saturday. It looks like it's going to be a long summer looking for my critters I will find them all sooner or later this picture below is my black cochin hen I bought Saturday you know it was nothing what they said it was going to be like I said unless all the animals got sold Friday when they opened it or they just didn't have many animals there I saw handbags and just normal flea market stuff ever where and I sure didn't drive 8 hrs for a handbag and what knots I did see a few turkeys and two peacocks rabbits seems like to be the big thing there.

The trade has always been nothing but flea market type stuff in my opinion.
As for animals, I asked a guy and his son what color his cochins were, all he said, "i dont know, all i know is they are bantams". I will never buy from people like that. If they dont know what they are selling, then I wont buy from them, so I always ask questions. I did meet a nice guy who shows at the lucasville show. He had a few d'anver and dutch up there in sunday. I plan on getting there first thing saturday morning in June, to see if I can find OEGB, Cochins, and D'anvers.

Also as far as the traffic to get in, the Southern Ohio Poultry Assoc, who runs the trade, said they are working on fixing the traffic issues for June. They've said a few times that they were growing bigger than expected after the move. I heard they had 1800 spots sold, and with over 60,000 people there on saturday, there wasnt much left for me to see on sunday

Well guys I got to talk to my friend who also went to the swap in April. And he also said that Chillicothe flea market was terrible that he pack up and drove back down to the Lucasville flea market. So I was busy and didn't get to make it to the one this month but I am going to go to the last one of the year in September to Lucasville that is. I have also decided to buy me a peacock building a nice pen and housing for it I should have it done before the end of September gets here. I have so many projects going on right now at my place. We are also building a greenhouse so we are working on that and a chicken barn before winter time gets here. but I am busy busy looking forward in growing tomatoes in the winter time and peppers. Going to be great to be able to grow veggies year round and not have to buy them at the grocery store.
