Luck with shipped eggs for hatching

The Postal Service uses UPS and Fedex planes to transport alot of their shipments so I don't think they'd be any easier. Not to mention half the time UPS, Fedex, and DHL let the postal service deliver them the last part of the trip anyway.

Agreed.

My first batch of shipped eggs...and there was a 0% hatch rate. One pipped the shell, poor thing, but didn't make it any further.

My second batch was much better at about 70%.
I have week-old chicks...10 of 'em...running around my brooder.

How can you "see" that the incubating eggs are fertile without cracking them open?

You do what they call " Candle " the egg with egg candeler or a flashlight. I cut a hole in a paperplate size of egg... put the egg on the plate using the light.. go into dark closet or a place thats dark see if you can anything veins... air cell... forming bird.. some only suggest on day 7 .. 10.. once before lockdown.. also some do it alot however you risk breaking everytime you candle. I hope this helps

Good Luck and BOY IS IT COOL> FUN> EXCITING !!!!

I ship eggs from Ebay sales all the time through USPS priority and have only had 1 box that arrived to buyer with broken eggs and that was years ago it was more my fault for not packing good enough and the biggest mistake people make is they don't mark all around the box " Fragile Hatching Eggs inside " I too wrap each egg in bubble wrap and place them in egg cartons and then I wrap the egg carton in bubble wrap making sure that nothing is going to shift around in the box during transportation. My buyers so far have all had pretty good luck and high % hatch rate but there is always some that for whatever reason have bad luck.
