Meet Lucy... (I named her Lucy because she’s a red head .. )she just appeared in my yard about 4 weeks ago and decided to stay.. I never raised chickens before until she decided to live here. Lucy is very tame and sweet.. she acts like more of a dog than a chicken..lol.. her favorite treat so far seems to be blueberries. I have a blueberry bush and every time I go near it.. she comes a running and begging.. yes begging for blueberries.. She’s here to stay and I am happy she is!!

Nice to meet you too.. I do plan on getting her a friend or 2 once I get her a coop.. Right now she laying eggs on my front porch on my dog’s bed.. lol
Oh, that’s funny ... do you have anywhere to keep her at night?

Yes..my front porch is screen in and it has a door.. I close it and lock her in.. funny thing is.. she started going on the porch about 7:30 at night.. that’s when I lock her in. I think ,she thinks it’s her coop! . Around 6:30 in the morning, she’s up and ready to go out.. i feel like she’s training me.. lol

Haha! Well look at that.. she is making herself right at home! That’s great! Don’t you just love her!? They are so great! And how lucky for you that she stumbled upon you.. that you get to experience the joy of chickens.. and how lucky for her.. that she found such a sweet person to love and take care of her!

Welcome to BYC. Until you get a coop you may want to put her in a dog crate at night for added protection. A coon is capable of tearing through the screen to get at her.
Oh thank you for letting me know that.. I have coons all in my back yard. Never thought they even try tearing through the screen
