I noticed yesterday, while feeding my gals some treats that one of them has a lump in her wattle. It is hard, and about the size of a pencil eraser. The other side is perfect.
Lumpy side
Normal side (not the best picture...but, you get the idea)
I've turned her upside down, and inspected the area, and I cannot see a bite hole, or anything... I tried opening her mouth to see inside, but she is a wily thing... I can't tell if she is injured from the inside.
They are in a coop and a covered run, so I can't think of anything that would have scraped the inside of her mouth, as they eat crumbles and random snacks from the yard like weeds and bugs, scratch and veggie waste...
What should I do?
I have readied her old brooder for her (2x4 foot) so she can stay inside while I treat her... but, I don't know what to treat her with, or what to do?
My ideas are:
Warm compresses, antibiotics (I have tylan)... I am squeamish about lancing it, since she won't hold still... Please help. She has taken to being really grumpy, and is pecking all the other coopmates, and is just a total "talker", complaining very loudly.
She has all of her energy, and is pretty feisty. Her weight is excellent, and her appetite is awesome.
She is about 7 months old, and otherwise, very healthy... except for the fact that she has ripped the feathers out of one of her cage-mates legs, butt, and neck... she's mean lately, and I am wondering if it is because she is in pain?!
(And, her nostrils are clear... the pic looks nasty because I just fed them scrambled eggs and leftovers and they had dirty face...not plugged & blackened nose holes.)
