Thank you for your reply. I am new to chickens… she doesn’t have any peck marks. I will do this today and see how she goes. They had mites a few weeks ago and they have been treated so it could be linked to that.Are you talking about her swollen ear? Does she have any peck marks on it? Can you check into her ear canal with a QTip? Put a few drops of half strength hydrogen peroxide into the ear canal and let it bubble. Clean it out, and then fill the canal with plain Neosporin ointment to kill any ear mites, or treat any bacteria, fungus, or viruses.
Look for more mites, since the mite eggs can hatch out every 5-7 days. Usually it requires at least 2 treatments, and the coop, nests, and roosts should be treated once all bedding is removed. Permethrin 10 concentrate 1 tsp mixed with 1 quart of water works well.
