I got 2 barred rock hens this past weekend. After getting them home, I saw that one of them has a lump behind her left eye. Doesn't look like it bothers her. She also has scaly leg mites
I contacted the people I got her from to ask if they knew anything and they were not helpful, in fact she told me the hen likely did not have leg mites because they only occur on feathered leg breeds. But then suggested I should use vaseline on them
(i'm thinkin...funny how that's the treatment for leg mites. anyhow, I am treating the scaly leg mites....with vaseline, after searching around here I wanted to see if anyone had advice on her head lump, I just dont know if I should see how it does or what. I started them on vitamins today (avian super pack from jeffers) cause I noticed they both have lower quality eggs than my flock. (props to Layena for making a good food for my babies)
