Hi Everyone,
I feel like I should finally introduce myself after lurking around for about a year. I'm Buffy and live in Hayward, CA with my husband, two year old son, Buddy the cat and our 9 chickens. Some on here I'm sure will remember me from the other backyard chickens board. I was chickenless for a couple of years when I met my husband, moved, had a baby and lived in a rental that we couldn't have chickens at. Our current landlord loves the chickens. I'm a nanny and have been hatching in preschool and elementary school for the three girls I take care of for over 8 years now. I'm a total hatching addict and usually do about 8 school hatched as well as numerous hatches at home. I think I have about 7 incubators now, brinsea and r-com.
We have 8 bantam hens and an illegal rooster that I'm hanging onto for a little while longer until all the girls start to lay and we can hatch some of our own eggs. Our girls, Lorraine, Edith, Agnes, Blanche, Margo, Quesodilla, Wanda and Laura Bell are frizzle, sizzle, showgirl and silkie. Gary the rooster is a showgirl. We've hatched two homegrown eggs so far and have one showgirl and one shizzle.
