I've found a lot of helpful tips and pointers while lurking on this site for the last several months. We have 3 Rhode Island Whites and 3 Black Australorps. One of the BA's laid her first egg just a couple days ago at the ripe ol' age of 16.5 weeks. It's been fun getting to know these ladies and it's a great way to let my 2 youngest children connect to where life and food comes from.

Congrats, graduating from lurking to posting! I love both RIR's and Austrolorps. I have an RIR Columbian Rock cross, but no Austrolorps even though i would like some. I'm trying ducks now, so Austrolorps will have to wait!

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join us here! Congratulations on your first egg! :clap It's always so exciting finding those little treasures and it never gets boring. Raising chickens with kids sure is very rewarding and as you say a great way to teach them about life and where our food comes from.

Good luck for the future with your chicken adventures and enjoy your time here on BYC :frow
