Good morning all,

Finally had to break down and join because I couldn't find a thread that answered my question.

New to the chicken game. Wanted a few birds just for eggs, and after a week was drawing plans for the new coop and looking to expand the flock...

The wife is super impressed.

Great information from a great membership. Not sure that I will add much, but i'll take all I can get.

Glad you could join the flock! Many of us were lurkers before signing up. Sounds like the chicken math is getting a grip in you!! What breed/s do you keep? Wishing you the very best of luck with expanding your flock on the future.

Thank you for the welcome. The chicken math is in full multiplication mode, no doubt about it.

Currently, I have just two birds, a leghorn and ancona. Originally there was also a campine and a lakenvelder, but some unwanted subtraction put me down to two.

Looking very hard at what the additions will be and have it narrowed down to a few different breeds on the short list. I like the idea of a mixed flock. When I had horses and hogs growing up I always liked to have a mix to experiment with and find what I really liked, the chickens are proving to the be the same, if not much, much worse.
