Ok, when you paint, make sure you do it in a small brush, like 15 for backgrounds, 9 for birds. Also, don't be afraid to smudge around the edges of different colors. Make sure you get the entire thing, don't leave some things un-smudged. Take your time.

I do use small brushes. About 15 or smaller.
