I've had a couple of people tell me that for optimum feather quality that the birds should be in coops without wire. I'm at a bit of a loss as to how this is accomplished. To me, ventilation is very important... as is some natural light and keeping out pests. I'm somewhat at a loss as to how to build a coop without wire. Perhaps they mean that wire is mounted from the outside and not in a place where the bird can rub against it?
(Obviously, I need to be sharper on the uptake and ask these questions of the person who made these comments in the first place...
