need help just built my chicken coop and got a call from the zoning office who is contracted saying I cant have chickens even though 7 or 8 other people have chickens I want to try to bring it to a township meeting just need to get all of my facts straight

Good Morning folmar25,

The first thing I would do tomorrow is get 'photos' of the other chickens in your neighbor hood, use a local newspaper in each shot to verify the date. First thing Monday morning go in person to your zoning dept with the photos, this almost sounds like an act of 'spite' on behalf of a neighbor. If necessary, arrange to be heard at your very next township meeting.

It's honestly crazy all I'm trying to do is have fresh healthy eggs for my family my coop is very attractive and tucked away so it's not standing out I've put allot of time into it

Amen folmar25, I certainly understand, this is why it sounds as though a spiteful neighbor may have contacted the zoning dept, they rarely just 'show up' at your home unless prompted by someone, or a complaint has been filed.

Just obtain some photographic evidence of other chickens in your neighborhood, and there shouldn't be any thing they can do.

maybe they were just jelous because my coop looked better but I wrote down addresses and have been researching the issue its just hard sifting through the endless pages of codes and zoning ordinances to find what I need
