Lyon Incubator

I don't have any experience with them, but I've been drooling over the one in the "Everything Else for Sale" section right now:

It holds 209 quail eggs, 109 pheasant eggs, 89 average chicken eggs, 71 large chicken eggs, 55 duck eggs, or 29 goose eggs (depending on the grid you have in it)!

I'd buy it now, but I'd get myself into so much trouble with that much egg capacity!

They are known for being what of the best for their size. They are quality machines known to last for years. They are pricey though.

It just depends on what you are planning on hatching in it and what kind of capacity you need. There are a lot of Marsh/Lyon incubators floating around, so you can generally find them used for a decent price and they do last for years. I used to have a Turn-X and got hatches with it comparable to that of other small incubators I have used, like Brinsea. If I wanted to buy an incubator in that size range, I personally would probably get a Suro.

If you are looking at a Roll-x (RX I think they call them now), those are awesome too. I would dearly *love* to get one of the new models that has rollers like a Grumbach, mostly because I have waterfowl and suspect it would be a dream for hatching waterfowl. The one drawback with them to me is the price (if you are buying one new). You can get a really nice cabinet incubator that has 4x the capacity for less money. HTH.

Yes, I was looking at the one on the 'everything else' column also. I shouldn't even think of such a thing, and I don't need that much hatching capacity, either.

But gosh. I would really like one...

Then I would get more eggs and more eggs and hatch more...

I hatch chicken eggs, and the occasional peafowl egg. Not really interested in waterfowl, as I do not have a good place for one.

I recently purchased a Lyon Roll-X. I got a good deal on it... I want those rollers too! They are pricey though.

Thank you. I have been eyeballing that one on the Every else for sale, and really want it.

Maybe someone will save me by bidding way up.

i love mine....bought it as a christmas gift to myself a couple of years ago. before that, i borrowed a neighbors (she breeds cockatoos and macaws) a few times and it hatched like a dream. i wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone. be prepared for the price, they are pretty spendy--took me a l-o-n-g time to save up for it!

I wish the roller system was more affordable. You can get it separate and upgrade an older machine, but the rollers are a couple hundred bucks and a used machine is usually about that too. Before you know it, you are almost at the price of a new machine. I saw one website that has the new version with the rollers for like $680.

I got mine for $275, but included a bunch extras... like spare temp control which alone is $75 dollars.
