M I Crooked Letter Crooked Letter...ahh, nevermind....Mississippi

Pics
Ok, so the brood of 5 Mallard/Cayuga mix I hatched out around the 28th~ was raided yesterday evening in their brooder by a pack of feral cats one of my neighbors has been feeding. Of the 5, four were killed (one was missing, so I'm assuming it was carried off to a grim fate). The other 3 were left in the brooder box, dead and mangled. One survived, with no physical damage whatsoever. When I did my hourly check-in, she could be heard peeping from a good 20 feet out (which I knew in my soul spelled trouble when I heard it.)

I'm looking for anyone who has a hatch that is roughly 10-14 days old to foster her with. She peeps incessantly now, unless being phyically contacted by me or my brother. and refused to eat until this afternoon, again, only while being touched, or hovering my hand near her. Her parents won't accept her being she was box incubated, and none of my chickens will foster her.

An improvement from last night is that she can be placed in a box, and be a foot or so away, and she will be absolutly quiet. But as soon as she is left alone, it's right back to frantic peeping.

If anyone has some peeps her age and lives in south mississippi, I will give you the duck. I think if she can be around peeps (even chickens), she will be perfectly fine. But as it stands now, the duck had to sleep with me in bed last night. This is not behavior I wish to encourage, or could even sustain. I want it to be a duck, not a house pet.

If you have any peeps or know of anyone with them please respond. I'll drive to slidell, poplarville, kiln, w/e. Being part cayuga, this duck is a hefty size for it's age, so even if your hatch is a bit older (larger) it might still work out.

Hi, New to Site, but not to Chickens or Ducks. We are near Picayune and the Kiln in Hancock County. Have many other animals, Llamas, Goats, Rabbits, Cats, a Mini Pony, and European Dobermans.
