ill have to get cleare pics for you guys...
but im worried about little ronny.
we got 2 barred rocks in the batch of supposedly all pullets, of the 2 i closely inspected both before rehoming the "spare" ronny was the most "pullet" looking of the 2...
she was darker over all than the other barred rock, a little smaller, had a little more wing development, the smallest head spot of the 2 and a nice dark wash over the front of the legs that extended down onto her toes.
now "shes" now about 7 days old...
and my little sisters FAVORITE! i dont blame her either, this ltitle one has a very snuggly personality.
but now im looking at her compared to all the other girls in the box and am worried...
heres ronny...
now "she" still has a fairly compact spot on her head, but now the edges of that spot seem to have grown and began to wash out into a silver tone..
and at 7 days she only has the first row and a bit of wing feathers and NO tail feathers comming in.
the wing feathers that are there are rounded on the tips...but not much development...
her thigh fluff and some of the wing fluff now has also taken on a silver hue to it...
now in terms of the other girls...the columbian and the speckled sussex are almost completly winged out and have tail feathers comming in. the buff orph has less on the wing but tail feathers pinning in, and the australorp has a few more wing feathers but NO tail feathers.
size wise ronny is right in the middle of the bunch (the australorp is the smallest followed by ronny)
in terms fo body carriage, shes super frinedly once out of the box, loves to snuggle but generally i dont see much difference in body language between her and the other girls...they all sem to take turns being brave at this point sometimes running away from a sudden new thing, other times comming right up and each takes turns standingna little taller... as if on watch.
leg thickness also seems to be the same as the other ladies...
ronny and ethel having some out of brroder play time. (ethel doing the chicken dance
)

the wing feathers that are in look the same as the other girls in shape, but theres only the first row and part of the secondary row comming in.
as you can see "She" still has a nice dark wash over the fronts of her legs which extends onto her toes...
her comb is about the same size as everyone elses at this point, it doesnt seem any larger or pinker than any of the other girls...
so tell me...
based on this...is ronny a girl...or do i need to name her Ron and find her a new home while listening to my sister pout, because its her favorite...
are some chicks just a little slower to develop than others.
the columbian and speckled sussex seem to have just blossomed...the buff orph is somewhere in the middle and the black australorp and barred rock seem to be on the back end of the running...but the australorp has more wing development (no tail either) than the rock...
HELP!
