Made an Incubator Tonight

I also made sure to NOT have the fan blowing directly at the bulb or water.

In mine, the stat is attached to the inside of the fan housing, and only about a couple inches from the bulb.
So the stat is reading mostly the bulbs temp, and some ambient air/metal temp.

If the fan blows directly on the bulb, and the stat is not in the right spot, the heat will get blown away from the stat and you will not get an accurate operation, possibly resulting in a several-degree-swing.

The fan I used was from a power supply, and I took everything off and just have the U-shaped sheetmetal mount.
The stat is mounted directly to the metal, and the whole assembly fits just inches away from the bulb.
I really wanted to have the bulb inside the fan-housing and directly behind the fan with the stat on the outside of the housing, but my bulb and fixture wouldnt allow me to do that.
The light turns off and on many times an hour, but is never really on for more than 2-3 mins at a time, and is off about 8-10 mins.

When I put the eggs in, I moved my remote temp sensor right next to the bulb, and it read 102 . . . but the bulb was only on for a few minutes, and the fan is moving that 102 around mixing with say 99 degree air . . .
I just put the sensor back on the tray with my eggs, and its already down to 101 and should go back to 100 very soon, I have absolute faith.

I do not consider this a "forced air" incubator, all I am doing is circulating air in a "still air" incubator.
I dont think they are the same thing.

A fan in any direction will move the air which is better than nothing, placement of the stat is pretty critical Id say.

In the time it has taken me to type and proofread this, my temp is now reading 100 again, but the eggs were not as close to the bulb as the sensor was, so they never felt that 102 anyways.

Tammy, where in Ca are ya?
Im in sac area.

Edit: having the fan blow on the water will cause it to evaporate more quickly and result in large, quick swings in humidity.

So, if I put the bulb at the bottom on the end away from the eggs, with the thermostat above it (with the back towards the bulb) and then the fan above both of them blowing towards the other end...........it would be blowing the warm air around but not directly AT anything. That sounds like it should work.

I live 1/2 way between Bakersfield and Fresno, all the way out in the middle of nuthin'

Hey there, I can't access youtube as it's banned in the area I am in. Can you please upload the video to some other video hosting site? I know that's much to ask but I'd be very thankful if you do that.

Thanks anyways.
