I work with Social Services, and all my clients are on Hatteras Island(which is 75 minutes away). As some are aware, Hurrican Irene took out the one road that connects the island to the rest of Outer Banks. Well, after 45 days, DOT opened the temporary bridge to reconnect the island. So today I was able to drive down for the first time since before the storm. I did take the ferry down the week after the storm to assist in emergency food stamps,and we stayed for 5 days in a moldy damp hotel room...So needless to say, the clients I saw today, were very relieved to see me
