Hi,

This is phenomenal for me! I have 41 chickens, many of which are not layers or not good layers and I actually got 100 eggs this week!

The ones that don't lay or don't lay all that well:

3 roosters

7 chicks that are too young to lay

4 pullets that just became of laying age but haven't layed yet

Another 3 young pullets that are laying sporadically

1 tiny Bantam that lays once in a while

1 Polish hen that recently went into a molt and it doesn't seem she is laying yet

7 Silkies (unpredictable since there are some broody ones, it seems all the time)

7 quite old RIR's that do lay but I only get 1-4 eggs a day from all of them

The good layers:

3 Leghorns

2 RIR pullets that have just started laying and are laying regularly

1 EE that is a great layer (4 or 5 days in a row and one day off)

2 Frizzles that lay fairly regularly

So now all I have to do is figure out what to do with all of these eggs! I don't sell them so I use as many as I can and give the rest away. I think I will be doing A LOT of baking!

I have to say 100 eggs this week is a first for me.

Just had to share my good fortune! Genie

Weren't you waiting impatiently for a 10 egg day, Genie?

Looks like your productive birds overshot that and then some!

Congratulations to everyone involved

I have yet to figure out what to do with them all! Luckily, I do have neighbors anxiously awaiting fresh eggs, so many will be given away.

And we may be eating eggs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and in desserts, such as pie, cake and custards)!

I collect approximately 21 dozen eggs a day from my flock of 324 hens and 5 roosters. Of course I don't bake with many so I sell the rest;)
