Under my chicken cook, where their poop drops too, I've noticed maggots when I mix up the dirt and poop.

My Question is: Is it alright for my 2 laying pullets to eat the maggots?

It's not that I am planning on feeding the maggots to them. It's more like, incase they were to eat them, would they be okay?

[If it were up to me, I would only feed them mealworms cuz theyre much cleaner. But my chickens are so ... picky? They dont care too much for bugs...]

Flies layed in my girls food one time, (

We used to turn the older, spent hens out in the corrals to dig through the manure and eat the maggots. It was fly control. I see nothing wrong with the practice.

I was thinking of setting some fly traps and letting the maggots develop for a treat for the girls.

If they were out in the "wild" and found them they'd eat them all up!
