Happy Thanksgiving!
We are about to move the flock. Advice on that would be helpful. It’s 2 roosters & 11 hens. I have 2 very large dog crates that should fit 4 hens each. So I’m thinking several trips and get the roosters after dark?
How deep should zeolite be in the poop board?
How deep should hemp be on the concrete floor?
Is hay ok in the run, or is there something better? I’ll add wood chips and other farm items as they accumulate.
I’m going to add some bars on the ramp—12-18” apart?
Finally, any advice on water? I aim to collect rainwater in a barrel and would like to find an automated system with a float valve and heater—maybe a circulation pump? I’m struggling to find a trough deep enough for a float valve. I’d rather not stress them with a new water drinking method at the same time as the move…
Thanks for input
