Now, y'all know I hatched Trader Joe's fertile grocery eggs, right? I have four White Leghorns in my yard right now, a cockerel and 3 pullets, from the Mahonri NYD Hatch.

down here in texas the only eggs available for purchase are refrigerated at walmart!

i can't even give my chicken eggs away! everyone here is scared of a chicken egg that isn't solid white (inside and out).
my chickens are laying so many eggs, i can't keep up!
i actually scrambled 3 dozen today shells and all and gave them to my chicken kids as a treat

Oh, dear. You may be laughing, but I would be crying!

Well, I've actually been paranoid about that - but I wanted to practice with real eggs. So, I've been practicing candling, and as terrible as this might seem, if I see any development, they are going in the compost pile. They've been in the fridge for over two weeks, so I'm hoping that killed any chance....

Then again, maybe I'll hatch them out and send them to work down at the local IGA...

Turning them is part of my daily routine, and I just never think to candle them except during the day & the room is way too light for that. By night, I forget

They are very expensive, so I rent them out to friends for housework, yard work, animal care, babysitting... you get the picture. Unfortunately, some of my friends have chickens, and turkeys, and are insanely generous. This morning I got up at 6 am to set my 16 turkey eggs, that came in the mail, as my daughter got up and ran out the door to work at my friends house. This afternoon, my daughter came home from work with 4 more eggs for my bator

Well depending on what the post office does to them I will be setting a dozen partridge and blue partridge silkies and 8 - 12 d'uccles. Small hatching for me Miss Kathy. LOL

I am finishing up my second March hatch now so I have time to clean and restart the bator for the easter hatch.
