I'm confused.......how are you marking them AS they hatch? Do you have them separated in the incubator?

OK don't laugh.

I have the polish sitting by the bator and as they start moving around I watch who is who and when they get by the air vent I dab them on top of the head with polish. LOL

They do need to walk on top of the carton, but that's a given.

I'm almost 60, and suddenly thinking that by now I would have learned not to take dares.
I was just getting ready to peel a boiled egg.......................... not really hungry for anything now.......................... and certainly not ready to open any eggs. Thank you ever so much Laree.

There is no hope for me then... if you are almost 60 and haven't learned I probably won't learn. I'm 27 and the word dare was just too much for me!

Thank goodness this was not a double dog dare...

My early hatch of 24 Mille Fleur Leghorns and one Coronation Sussex is underway. Unfortunately, after bringing the incubator up to the house, a pungent aroma began to fill my office. I know that smell! So, drat, I had to open the bator and sniff/candle each egg to find the stinker which turned out to be the Coronation Sussex.

Sorry Cheryl, I was the kiss of death for those eggs. One CS left for next Tuesday.

In addition to the stinker, I also found two late quitters amongst the Mille Fleur Leghorns and discarded them. So I am sitting here waiting for 22 Mille Fleur Leghorns to hatch. I have lots of pips but no zips. The leghorns were pretty crowded so I brought the other incubator up with my 8 Easter eggs in it and put a few of the MFL's in there so they could have more room. So my Easter eggs are on a sort of early lockdown. Lots of peeping going on!

2 of my 3 sebastopol goose eggs have pipped internally

The other still has 'good veins' so it should hatch too. Not bad considering 4 of 12 eggs were completely smashed in the box. 2 of the 3 turkey eggs that came with them have been moved to the hatcher.
