Do you know your humidity? Could it have been too high... drowning? Did you see any water when you opened the eggs? From what I know, they internal pip, breathe all the air in the air sack, then by reflex of not having any more air, they slam that egg tooth into the shell, breaking it, letting more air in. So, if humidity was too high and there was water inside the air part, that would drown them... or, maybe your shells are just really really hard. idk? Let us know what conclusion you come up with as to why this happened.

I wish I could answer that. I have to admit that I still haven't quite figured this out yet. I have a habit of checking the eggs for the long-standing internal pips and I tap a teeny hole about as big around as a pencil lead in the center of the fat end of the egg just for some air. I can't help it.

I'm still trying to figure out whether it's due to the chick being too large or small to get the proper leverage internally, the egg being too thick/strong, the wrong position...etc.

I had a ton of them when I forgot to put those eggs into confinement last week, and they were at NO increased humidity and still in the turner, so I suspect low humidity and/or position. I'm just not sure.

Humidity too high or low. Wet eggs means to high and shrink wrapped chicks is too low. And maybe nothing they just didnt want to play

for your chicks. It may just be exhausted from hatching. Give it time to rest up.

Well folks I am off to bed. My pips haven't progressed at all so I am thinking they are resting up for the zipping. Can't wait to see what's in the bator tomorrow morning! Good luck to everyone!

My lone poult that I hatched on Monday has! His name is "Cranberry"-I got 4 Cornish X and 2 Silkies at TSC yesterday for broodermates and when I go down to the brooder they are usually sleeping. I put my hand down and say "Here, Cranberry!" and he comes running and steps on my hand!

He loves to snuggle under my chin!
Good luck with your poults! They are terribly difficult to keep alive for the first 6-10 weeks, but they are so much fun! I love my turkeys more than the chickens (SHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

It's too soon to know for sure, but the #1 chick [Ameraucana] I helped is spending more time on its feet and may be OK.

The other [Ameraucana] is still resting in the half shell tightly curled, but wiggles its wings every so often.

A Sussex has zipped vertically downward and has its beak out at the bottom........................... I ain't helpin' it tonight.
