The heating element is at the top on the Brinsea but there is a plastic divider between the eggs and the element so even with stacking the eggs are 1 1/2 to 2 inches from the element. It is a forced air model so theoretically the temp is the same top to bottom. I will be checking that as soon as the Spot Check gets here on Wednesday. I am a little concerned that the eggs on the top layer will be a little warmer than the bottom eggs. I will pull the clears at day 10 so the rest will be down in the tray. 29 of them are shipped so I am expecting only half of those to develop. I did read that the lady I got the light Brahmas from sent 12 eggs to someone as a test hatch and she got 11 of the 12 to hatch so we will have to see. Oh and the turner rotates the whole incubator so they should all get the same amount of turning.

The fan in the Brinsea seems to push the air to the sides and then it swirls around. I have the spot check and I had even temps throughout my "layers" of eggs. Usually at day 7 when I candle I can rearrange and not have but a few on top. I didn't notice any difference in growth or hatchability from my stacked eggs or my ones on bottom, so I think that little fan does a good job of distributing the heat.

Oh and yes I do cram all the jeans I can into the washer.

I say chicken hens because I've also got turkey hens, guinea hens, goose 'hens', duck hens, quail hens, pigeon hens, and dove hens....so far only the chickens are dropping like flies!

I really need help please! The eggs I wanted for the big Hatch won't be available till later - worth the wait for sure! So now on to plan B. Does anyone know where I can buy some really dark Olive Egger eggs? I need to get moving or miss the hatch and will have to just enjoy reading about yours.

Any suggestions?

I have 30 eggs in my Brinsea right now....granted small eggs. Runner ducks, Call ducks & bantam Cochin & D'Uccles. But I could have squeezed maybe 2 more in.
