She may just take some time to catch up to the others. Sometimes the "sticky" late hatchers or ones that are a little smaller seem needy for a while and then a few weeks later you can't tell them from the others. I hope it hangs in there and does great! Just keep an eye on it.
So I was reading about how some folks double stack eggs in their incubators. I had no idea you could do that! Glad I found out about such possibilities because I over ordered eggs plus with my girls laying regularly, I ran out of room very quickly in my 42 space turner. I have two actual hatches going now. I will have to acquire a second incubator by next week though so I can hatch these guys out.......
Welcome to my madness......
First hatch contains:
4 serama x BOEGB
10 orpingtons of one kind or another
1 OE
1 FBCM
Second hatch has:
29 Split to lav black orps - ordered
19 Split to lav black orps - homegrown
12 Seramas
That's a total of 76 eggs in that thar 1588! I did put my eggs on top since my fertitlity isn't at 100%. That way if the "too warm" issue is a factor, it will be my young girls eggs that are being experimented on.
I did unplug the turner and am shifting the whole incubator from left to right every 4 hours since stacking them prevented the top eggs from actually "turning" correctly.
Sarah,
Watch Craig's list for incubators. I got my Sportsman from there, and it had only been used a couple times. Sometimes you can get great deals there. Good luck! You deserve to have one!
My 5 Lavenders I hatched. I think they will fluff up and look better for pictures tomorrow, but here they are.
