It certainly wasn't clever photography with my cell phone - the eggs are just gorgeous! Sorry about your little girl (however big she may be, they remain our little girl's don't they?)but glad she has you to make sure those teeth stay beautiful.

We spent every summer in AZ as kids. ALL of my mom's family is from Florence and still lives in that area. The aunts that don't live in Florence are in Casa Grande and Phoenix. I have a bazillion cousins that live all over that area, too.

You aren't kidding about the sky being a different color of blue. And green is a different shade there, too. I remember one spring as Grandpa was looking over a field of sprouting cotton he talked about how green it was. As a kid who lived in Miami FL back then, I was amazed he thought so highly of green. I think about Grandpa every spring in Tennessee, as the green of new grass and budding leaves relaxes my eyes and makes me feel all peaceful and content.

Mahonri, I hope your DD bounces back quickly from all this. Althought it will be a sad way to spend spring break, I'm grateful for her sake that she can rest and heal without worrying about falling behind at school.

GEEZ Mahonri! Are you related to me? My family needs to buy their own ER. Hope your little girl gets well fast.

How many eggs are we supposed to set on the 2nd???? My eyes are crossed or something, cause I can't find it. I have so many to set today I may have to start giving some away.

Does anyone know how to stop an egg eater??? I had hens chasing eachother for a shell and 4 of them with their heads in a next box going to town. Everyone is getting freash oyster shell today, but I need this to stop. I heard mustard in a blown egg shell, but these birds will eat left over corn dogs that are covered in it. The also get hot sauce and dried chilis, so need some help, so I have some to set next week.

I blew out eggs and filled them with syringes full of alum and gelatin. Gross!!!!!! Super sour.

Helped out, as did moving the nests, covering them almost to the litter, and moving things around to get them out of habits. I also put 5 golf balls in each nest to lessen the likelihood of them hitting an egg when they went to get a snack. Golf balls bite back. Do ALL of these things at once and give them a bag of apples on a hook still in the mesh. They'll stop with the eggs.

I know the mustard thing would never work, as they do like that. I read that it is almost impossible to stop, once they start. However, I did read an article where one person claims success by using a mixture in a blown out egg. In the mixture "apple bitter," was used. It is found in the equine section. I don't know personally, but this is what I have read.

Well all but a dozen of my w/bw and few ee's are sold prior to my gathering my own eggs....

luvanimals2 sent by her two California couriers and they took 20 W/BW Ameraucana + 4 FBCMs for hatching... they'll go in before next Saturday, but they should be lovely beautiful birds! Guess she'll be hatching turkey eggs from Lotsapaints for our Easter Hatch!

DD is still, VERY SORE...actually, she was to start back to school today after her two week break but we had to call the school and tell them she'd be out today and maybe tomorrow. She gets straight "A"s...so I'm not worried she'll catch back up.

My lunch nap is over so I guess I'll head back for my last 5 patients and then I'm going to do a hour or so of hiking on the mountain before bed tonight.

I've never been able to break an egg eater... and believe me, I've tried..

I got four eggs today...Do you know what this means? My BO's are laying is what this means. I don't have to buy eggs is what this means. Imagine my chagrin when a neighbor came over and asked to borrow an egg and I said I didn't have any. She took a long and meaningful look at my chickens - numerous, numerous chickens and lifted her eyebrows..."you don't have any eggs?" I had to give her a white, store-bought egg from my fridge. That won't happen any more is what this means!

I can relate! I get at least 4 dozen eggs a day now, but awhile back when one of my customers came by for eggs, my daughter told him, "We don't have any eggs. My mom has lost her mind." I had just put them all in the incubator.
