I could set duck eggs - not sure how the fertility is on the mallards though - not bothered to check.

YAY! Will send PM & get myself added!

I may be able to steal some from DH's BSL pen

Not sure how fertility is gonna be on those barred rocks though - just changed out the rooster last weekend!

Well, I put a half dozen unfertile grocery store eggs into the incubator to practice. (This will be my first hatch.) So far, I've had no problem with temperature. I put 4 tablespoons of water into the trough last night which boosted the humidity to 47%, a bit high I think. So, it's been coming down all day and is currently about 36% if my hygrometer is correct. If it comes down lower by tonight, maybe I'll put in one tablespoon each evening and see what that does.

Question - Will the incubator need more/less water to maintain proper humidity depending on how many eggs are inside, or should that have little effect?

I'm sure glad that I am messing with this a bit before the real eggs arrive.... which is only days away!
