Ok, so I locked down 28 eggs from an original 48.

Still in the bator:

1 LF Ameraucana
4 bantam Ameraucana
11 buff Faverolles projects
12 salmon or blue salmon Faverolles bantams

A couple of the blue salmon have internal pips, but the rest look right on schedule!

My 24 in lockdown are behaving like eggs should, no pips yet.

Mahonri, I am really thinking that the plastic divider that they put in the Brinsea Octagon line between the eggs and the fan makes the bators act more like a still air incubator. I had to set mine to 101.7 for the temperature to be around 99.6 at egg level. I know there are vent holes in the divider but I think it is not enough. They might need to redesign that divider so the air can move more freely in the bator or get a stronger fan in there. The good news is that once I got the temperature set, it stays pretty steady. I really do like the humidity pump on the advance model. For this hatch I have set the humidity up to 70% since I seem to have problems with chicks getting stuck in the eggs once they pip if they don't start zipping relatively soon. Hope this makes a difference this time.

Congrats to everyone with early babies... for the rest of you, hold on tight, they're coming soon! To help stave off boredom, don't forget to get in your week 3 contests: hen/pullet stinkeye, rooster crowing and license plate.

I got 12 hours of sleep last night (whew!) and had nothing in my traps this morning, which is both a good and a bad thing. I want that groundhog.

I'm working in the Coumadin Clinic today... making people bleed for a living...

Hey! Are those the Cochins I sent? That stinks! We'll have to get you some more.

yepp it was those. DH said that one I cracked open looked like it was ready to drop in a frying pan to scramble. After cracking one that quit early, he was like

I was

at him. None looked developed over 10-12 days.

I am not finding much difference in foam packing & bubble wrap .... other than less breakage. I have had one in foam arrive broken - However.........the boxes marked hatching eggs or live embryos seem to be shaken a lot more than just boxes marked fragile. I think it depends on what part of country it is from.
I have about 20 duck eggs in now shipped from CA i think ... I think all but one or two are all developing!
