I was a real CA girl. I also lived in Half Moon Bay for 8 years. Worked in San Jose. Driving home along 280 and seeing the marine fog "fingers" crawling down the hills was sooooo incredible. It was a real "Im going home" moment

I was born in Salinas, but grew up in San Jose until I was in my late 20's. I lived in the Cambrian Park area growing up. I've lived up here long enough to no longer be considered a "flatlander" by most. Although if you were born in this area, anyone not born here will always be a flatlander. So would my son consider me an outsider? He was born at Marshall Hosp. There are still lots of the original pioneer families here.

I'm formerly from Lake Arrowhead, CA and we certainly had all four seasons. Our winters were much more wintery than here in upstate NY, with regular three foot+ snowfalls and horrible roads since they did not salt them like they do here. Funny, we called everyone off the mountain flatlanders too.

So far I am not impressed by upstate NY winters. It gets colder here, true, but I've been here over three years and haven't even once been snowed in. (sorry to all the NY'ers that I have now jinxed into the snowfall of the ages by saying that. LOL). I miss Lake Arrowhead.. /sniff.

and dsqard, I hear ya' on the Stockton thingy. When we lived in Utah, the first time I heard Stockton mentioned on the news there I was trying to figure out why they were talking about some small happening which occurred in Stockton, California.

Now they're really going to be talking about it. Stockton is talking about declaring bankruptcy. It is actually a fairly large city, scary economy.

And then with the poultry farm in Turlock.... Running out of money and leaving 50,000 hens to starve to death!

We haven't had much snow this winter but we did have 100 mile an hour winds Wednesday.. Luckily we didn't lose any shingles on the house, the fence is still standing and the barn wasn't fazed a bit.. unfortunately it did pop up our old tent trailer and shred it.

So sorry to hear that. Winds in access of 70mph are not all that uncommon here, they sure can do a lot of damage. Glad the house and the barn made held up.

how about something like this? automatically updates also. it was a pain to embed it, but i had done one on the 'previous' byc so copied that source with the new source... and somehow it worked.




(is it byc legal to have another website posted? i've been trying to figure out how to take it off...)
