Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

It's a wound spray commonly used on poultry and livestock. It would cover the bare reddish spot and turn it blue. Chicks will pick at the red spot.

Oooohh I think i have some thing like that....but it's purple, and it's for horses....Ive used it on chickens before, so yeah Chicken Fever, I think getting that blue cote would help allot better than neo...... hope your chick does better

That sounds much better and much safer than the Vicks. I did the neo tonight, separated the wounds ones and will get red lamp and blue kote manãna! Thx gals n guys!

I thought this was interesting. This is the list of "breeding don'ts" from the 1915 American Poultry Yearbook. Something to think about as we select breeders for our hatch.

Thos aree great points! Does the book give the do's?

One thing I like to "do" is to watch the chickens throughout the year (or years) to see which are the best free-range foragers and which hens are oldest and still laying well. I try to get at least a few eggs from those hens to set in the incubator. Those are good genes. (If I'm repeating myself from earlier in this thread, I apologize.)

Haha Lucky you!

just remember that stuff is hard to get off (u probably already knew that...) so be carefull where/how you srpay it on the little chick. Good luck!

someone said that they use makeup wipes to get the stuff off, but the baby wipes will do the same thing as well.
