How many days have your eggs been set?
I promise, I'll go to sleep soon.
I use to look forward to days off. Today I know I've got too much to do and two teenage sons (on spring break) that can help me so I know I'll be bushed by the end of the day.
All this talk about caverns and big trouble bend is quite confusing--I kept wondering what tumbleweeds growing could represent--Then Mother Nature called......so Forgeddaboutit.....See SCG that is the thing with DH. I love him to death but his follow through sometimes is lacking. I am getting better at not visiting Big Trouble Bend or Screaming Caverns. I just go to Forgeddaboutit Lane and look over the things he promised to do. We had huge tumbleweeds growing in the flower garden areas in our back yard. For months they were on his "roundtuit" list. Every time I would notice them, I would turn my back and ignore them. He finally took care of them when they blew loose and wound up on our small patio outside our bedroom. Mostly I just take care of the outside stuff because I can't stand looking at it any more. He knows to stay in line mostly because he knows that if I get to Screaming Caverns, I don't need him really to do anything. Too many years of doing for myself (with the ex) taught me that I don't need anyone to do anything for me. I know how to do plumbing, simple electrical, simple carpentry and any yard work that comes along.![]()

OK here's a story for any other insomniacs up late. I found this online so some of you have probably already seen it. Anyway...
Mia is home, after a long flight from Minneapolis, and I couldn't be happier!
Here too! Ambien is my friend! Some of us like you never sleeo.
Last night I added 31 Lakenvelder eggs, not part of the Easter hatch. A BYC member here gave them to me. He did a test set before selling them to me and it didn't go well. So he told me to just give them a try. If I get chicks, then I'll pay for the eggs. He and his wife were lovely people, lovely birds, lovely home, lovely visit.I just now slipped in some more eggs.
Hi Shinx..remember I told you I have a friend that does this a lot for the schools? She doesn't take them until they are quite developed. Not sure what day, but it works for her quite well.Sueg, I bet after you went in the house, the mare was all calling your front yard rooster a tattletale. LOL What was the damage when you went outside this morning?
Here is my obsessive incubation question for you experts:
The kids will be on spring break and the school will be closed from day 11 to day 19. The director has agreed to meet me at the school a few times to let me in so that I can add water and check on the eggs (not that there's much checking I can do). I'm contemplating taking the eggs home on day 10, and then bringing them back on day 19 so that way I don't have to inconvenience both the director and I by going in multiple times while the school is closed (I figure I'll need to add water every 3 days or so- that's how often the one little well goes dry). I have a brinsea mini advance, and it always goes right up to temp within 15 minutes. Drive is 15 minutes, so it wouldn't be a huge interruption if I did take them home. Should I leave them at the school for spring break, or take them home?
I feel that I do need to add water occasionally because the ambient humidity around here is only 20% or so, and if I keep one well of water in the incubator, that keeps the humidity in there around 30-35%.
Quote: Ragerkid,
sorry if I scared you about opening the incubator to lower the Humidity. I was trying to calm you down. Like SCM said, Humidity is not that big of a deal. I think you are fine with the eggs and you will have a great hatch.
Several of us have mentioned the air cell development. That is the important thing. Someone else mentioned the porous eggs. Same thing there--they are a problem if they evaporate too quickly or if they allow bacteria in. Out of 8 EE eggs, 3 were porous and all of those hatched fine.
Have a great hatch Everyone
I track the RH so that I can make better decisions on my next hatch. Usually my RH fluctuates with the weather, and I don't like it to be below 20% so then I may add a few drops of water depending on the incoming weather. Overall I'm looking to see how the RH is affecting the increase in the air cell size. THe weather varies greatly from place to place and the seasons also effect the RH, so I like to keep this information to help me have better hatch rates. I dry incubate and have good results in my LG w/ a PC fan.
