Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I apologize.

My moment of despair has passed. I can extend his leg, and he can push with it. There is a weird knob, but I am hoping we can get to a point where he (seriously, hopefully, she) can walk, limp or no. I think some chick PT is in order.

And where the heck is everybody?

On the administrator's thread about the problem, a poster named Imp said what worked for them and it worked for me too. Before that, I was using your suggestion about changing a preference & then using the preview feature. Time consuming, but better than not posting at all.

Anyway, they said to click on the "compatibility button". It is the button to the right of the address line on your top toolbar. It looks like a torn sheet of paper. I just clicked on that and it has worked ever since.

I have four Icelandic eggs that no matter how much I press my nose to the incubator, I can't tell if there are any pip marks. There is so much stinking chick fluff all over the surface of the eggs from ealier hatchers, it ALL looks like tiny cracks.

I am right there with you. Chick fuzz, parts of other eggs and other goo from the hatched ones is making me crosseyed.

So far I have 24 out of 42 that made it to lockdown. I still have more pips in the styrobator. I did have one poor chick bleed out, I am assuming from the umbilicus, and pass away after it hatched. It was a surprise to me, I haven't had one do that before. I think I have two of the silkied AMs and I have two others that are puzzling me. One is a really pretty chick, mostly that grey color when you know they are going to be blue but the neck and head feathers are a mahogany color. I have no idea what egg it came out of. Renee, could it be one of your I/P's or are they just a lavender kind of color? I think I did have a single Konza egg hatch, maybe it is that? I don't really know but I think it is gorgeous. I also have a chick in the styrobator (so I know it came from one of my eggs) that looks silver. It is lighter than the color of a lav chick (I got several of those) but not the yellow color a white chicken usually hatches. It just looks silver.

The only "white" bird I have is a splash AM.
ETA - How could I forget my light Brahmas?

Still I know this is not a Brahma chick.

Here's a better picture. I took his hobble off and turned on more lights.
No doubt about it, he's injured.

I think if it were me, I'd hobble him back up and put him in the cup and keep him warm and fed.

If he's not better in two days then I'd probably cull.

I have a chick! It hatched without my seeing a pip or zip, too. (Well, I did go on a dump run with John to get rid of a lot of trash....)

And now there's a chick in the incubator with the most eggs, and it's skootching along over the top of the eggs.

After crying about not having more chicks pip. I had one pip and unzip without me seeing it, from the small end! She did it all by herself and was standing on her head in the carton. LOL I had to open and return her upright. I am afraid I couldn't just let her stand on her head with her little feet frailing around in the air. And she is Black! The other three are all gold. She is another Sex Link though and not one of my EE's, although she is a cross with the EE rooster. I am working really hard calling them all she. I usually just uncocously call them all hes..........
