The folks that have joined since Post #200 haven't been added to the list yet (like me!). So there's a few more than 53.

How many were part of the 2nd Annual Easter Hatch-A-Long? If I knew that number, I could make an edumicated guess.

If you joined after that time, you won't be on the list until the nest update. If he misses your entry........we will make sure he suffers the consequences!!

Most Ingenious Chicken Design

contest. During whatever week it is assigned, post a picture and brief explanation of your cool brooder / feeder / waterer / saddle / whatever that you created. I'll put them all on a page and have the kind folk of BYC vote for a winner, who will receive a copy of Gail Damerow's Chicken Health Handbook, which he/she will surely appreciate being such a witty chicken-fancier.

Well, I had to buy a second incubator to feed my new found addiction.

Today the 30 "free" bobwhite quail eggs (with an overpack of 7) arrived with no breakage.



Now, where's the incubator?

Actually, it's supposed to arrive tomorrow!

It looks like I will have 15+ Euskal Oiloa/Basque Hens from Skyline. I can't wait! This will be a new breed for me, and I have been researching and getting generally excited since the fall. I'll also be setting some of my own mutt eggs for the first time, which will be pretty cool.

We still have plenty of time for the hatch-a-long - more than a month until the set date, which is why I hadn't even been looking for this yet. The new format is probably the issue more than everything, but BYC will probably have rebounded by this time next year.

I am going to wait until next week to see of I need to order any eggs, and hope that some of my pullets will start laying by then too.
