Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Don't forget, all guesses for the total number of eggs we will set needs to be in by midnight tonight. Go here to submit your entry. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dE5FSUpmRmdCWXJZV1BlampFOUxCSkE6MQ#gid=0

I have recorded my guess.

I can't none of my standard chickens have a rooster. And I have three bantam hens, one rooster, but two of the hens are broody, and the other one is the roosters half sister so I can't set her eggs
I can send you a barnyard grab bag, you can have all the fun of hatching and then just sell them straight run.

I have been desperately tryin to catch up..but with 2 kids a dog and 3 chickens (and one broken homemade incubator) plus trying to find enough eggs...I just can't. I peruse though. I'm so excited for you kathyinmo, I want to hatch an emu egg so bad! Just because its exciting. Can't wait for more pics. BTW...I'm waiting on a local breeder for some turkey eggs still. They'll be set late today or early tomorrow depending on when she finally gets back to me.

This will never do, what's wrong with it, can we help you fix it?

I came home from work on Friday with what I thought was hay fever and went to bed. By Saturday morning it was a full blown cold and we had a birthday party scheduled for DS#2. Mananged to get through that but was miserable. Went back to bed with a killer headache, chest congestion and hurting, weak as a kitten and barely able to hold my head up. DH was worried (I don't get sick much) until I got up and fired up the computer. I can't get too far behind here, or I'll never get caught up! I posted this first, now I 'm going back to read the 180+ posts I've missed.

Here's my little broody:

And here's the saddle I made yesterday. She looks comfortable enough, so I guess I did okay. Who knew old undies would come in so handy?

Now I ain't throwin' nuthin' away.

(ETA: The elastic came from the old undies. I do not want to know all the ways that could have been misconstrued.

the old undies part got me!

Tried so hard to catch up...and was planning on a trip to Lowes so I can revise my incubator before the hatch...and then my 18 mo. sliced his foot open on my metal broom that snapped in half. Ended up in the ER for about 4 hours, they decided on Glue because although the cut went into the muscle and took about 8 min. of pressure to stop the bleeding. but his skin so thin and its on his foot. Soooo...the glue didn't work and his foot split open again today and bled fairly heavy. *sigh we still will go to lowes but no walking for the little man.

And....the person hooking me up with turkey eggs fell through. I'm sad.
