Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Tried so hard to catch up...and was planning on a trip to Lowes so I can revise my incubator before the hatch...and then my 18 mo. sliced his foot open on my metal broom that snapped in half. Ended up in the ER for about 4 hours, they decided on Glue because although the cut went into the muscle and took about 8 min. of pressure to stop the bleeding. but his skin so thin and its on his foot. Soooo...the glue didn't work and his foot split open again today and bled fairly heavy. *sigh we still will go to lowes but no walking for the little man.

And....the person hooking me up with turkey eggs fell through. I'm sad.

Gah! That's horrible!! What's wrong with these docs....? Don't they know that glue must be coupled with vet wrap!? Sheesh...they'd never make it on a farm.

Mahonri the cheapest gas near me is $4.19! So not fair.

buckabucka I'm so sorry about your cat. She must have been well cared for and loved to have lives so long. Must be very hard for you.

Kathy I can't wait to see those chicks hatched. That's got to be so cool!

Tazcat! I need to see some chick pics!!!!

I'll see what I can do!

I won't get to go fishing today. I'm extremely aggravated since we've been planning to do this and I really, really wanted to go. We should be going tomorrow since my brother has the week off. If we don't, I'm going to dig up some worms myself and walk to the closest creek.

I came home from work on Friday with what I thought was hay fever and went to bed. By Saturday morning it was a full blown cold and we had a birthday party scheduled for DS#2. Mananged to get through that but was miserable. Went back to bed with a killer headache, chest congestion and hurting, weak as a kitten and barely able to hold my head up. DH was worried (I don't get sick much) until I got up and fired up the computer. I can't get too far behind here, or I'll never get caught up! I posted this first, now I 'm going back to read the 180+ posts I've missed.

I'm glad to see you have your priorities straight. Now you can hoard the computer for yourself by pointing out to everyone that the keyboard will be germy!

Okay, I have some questions now. A long time ago I filled out all those hatch questions, -like how many eggs will be set, what Mahonri hatches, what we plan to set. I just made a bunch of stuff up. Are we supposed to go back and correct this, (since I suddenly find that I am hatching twice as many eggs as I had intended and purchased another incubator)? And if so, how to I go about correcting it?

And how did AKMichelle get the baby moose out of the pasture?

And a question from DH: "How much do emu eggs cost, anyway?" (uh-oh)

SCG, DH makes an awesome gasoline bomb to rid of groundhogs, but you must find his holes first. Let me know if you would like instructions.

The SG Dorking Hatch is over. All 11 of the eggs that went to lockdown hatched. This is really great

. I hatched them for a Breeder here that has not been able to get these to hatch. I think the problem was an infertile rooster. She is going to try some of the tips from this forum for boosting fertility though and I will try hatching some of those later this spring.

There are 11 chicks under the ecogolow 20

All 11 of them

NOW HEAR THIS!!

I'm going to post today and the next couple of days as I discover surpluses and heavy laying loads. I'll post my extra eggs and the cost of obtaining them for the hatch. I figure even shipping Wednesday ought to get them there to set on time.

Today I can boast that the d'Uccles went bonkers yesterday and lay like a gumball machine, so I have tons of those and will easily get a dozen/18 to send tomorrow/Tuesday. 12 eggs, shipped in foam will run $35, 18 will be $50. That IS including the cost of the shipping, double-boxing and foam sleeves.

My d'Uccles are Lavender, Mille Fleur, Isabel, Porcelain, and Mottled. You can find pics in my profile page.

I will also be able to supply a dozen or more Bantam Cochin eggs. They are B/B/S/Mottled, and my hatching eggs have produced birds that have won at shows (I don't show, myself). 12 eggs, shipped in foam will run $35, 18 will be $50. That IS including the cost of the shipping, double-boxing and foam sleeves.

That's all I know about for now...

Edited to reflect the right prices...
