Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

My fall yesterday morning really did a non-life-threatening number on me. Nothing broken but skin in two places; nasty scrape on left calf and a some bits of gravel imbedded into my left thumb. Right side muscle tenderness from the "trying NOT to fall" maneuvers. A colorful bruise developing under the calf scrape, along my left forearm and somehow on the .. well... left side of my butt. I did not go to work today.

The THIRD box of eggs is sitting at my UPS Store mail-box, 54 miles away. I will get it tomorrow and just set that box a day late. The other two boxes arrived yesterday, so I have those to finish resting and set tomorrow. Luckily I have several incubators!

Ow, that LOOKS like it hurt. I hope it heals fast!

On the other hand, I like your tattoo.

My eggs from Skyline were delivered yesterday. Out of 15 eggs, only 3 were missing the air cell. The others were there in good to poor condition, but much better than the Dorking eggs I have in the incubator now. Those had no air cells in any of the eggs. They did come back though.

I haven't checked all the eggs yet, but the packing was great. DH opened the box while I was at work, and he said each egg was carefully placed in an upright position. He thinks this is brilliant, because usually when you load the truck, you would naturally put the label up so you can read it. I'm going to rest them for 24 hours. Those that have undamaged air cells will go into the incubator with the automatic turner, along with my non-shipped eggs. The west coast eggs, which are settling but still show damage, will go in the second incubator, with no turning for 5 days or so.

Ouch on that scrape, gryeyes! I got a massive scrape on my knee when I visited my sister in California. I went for a morning jog. I am not accustomed to running where there is traffic. I carefully turned my head to look for cars behind me as I was continuing forward and across the road. Well, I'm also not accustomed to speed bumps in the middle of the road, either. I tripped on one and went down hard on my knee and hands. Rather embarrassing.

So, I started out saying I wasn't hatching anything this spring. Then I decided I would hatch 20 eggs. Now, I suddenly have a second incubator and was aiming for 44 eggs total, but DH says why not just do 48 instead, since that's the capacity? I guess I might need a bigger brooder.

The backordered ecoglow has a tracking number now!

I am home from my trip to meet karimw and we had a very nice visit. It's so much fun to meet BYCers face-to-face instead of keyboard to monitor!

I received my package of eggs from NC. Eight eggs all intact and now resting with the others.
Waiting on one more package from PA and will be picking up some "local" eggs on Sunday morning that will be going in a "tad" late.
Tomorrow is set day!

Mahonri's number and types of eggs set is in Post # 1!

Now, I suddenly have a second incubator

X2 thanks to Renee wanting to do the turkey hatch the SAME day we finish this one.

I am a little worried about it since it is like an LG but I am following your directions on the dry hatch Renee and hoping for the best. All of the shipped eggs are going in the Brinsea. Not too worried if things go haywire with my girls eggs but not gonna risk the Konzas and the fluffy AM's.
ETA - of course the new bator will hold 48 eggs and the Brinsea can hold 24. This means that I can hatch more, right? HMMMMM DH is out of town

I asked myself and said why not!

I thought about posting pics of my 2nd and in a couple of spots, almost 3rd degree burns but I thought I'd save some of you from vomiting.

Silvadene now on it's way along with Clindamycin and more Vicodin. When the nurse saw it today she looked worried... mostly because of my last A1C.

Got to meet ca's husband. Real nice fellow.

I track my A1c because it is the best indicator of too much glucose in the blood. I work at driving it down, almost like it's a game ! LOL Helps me eat right: no sugars, low carb foods like green vegies and nuts and berries along with beef, fish, and chicken and eggs, of course!! Have eliminated the pain in my wrists and plan to avoid arthritis in all my other joints, too. Too much to do on a small farm to deal with little aches and pains and I have young kids that like me to play with them. Read, piggie piles and human sandwiches. Boys are rough!

I can't wait to meet some of my new local (more or less) BYC friends.

Everytime I hear of a meeting, there are always eggs involved. Go fiegure!!

Gotta love eggs!!!

Construction paper for the "leaves", felt for the "stems", a piece of cloth for the background and my girl's "blood, sweat and tears" for inside the leaves

That's awesome. It was so abstract and the stems were so dark that I thought some of it was done on the computer.

Once I took my dog to walk in the big, busy park in the town where I work. It was going really well. I was feeling really good and decided to jog the last leg. Well, Talli was loving it. We were jogging through a bit of lawn where people were sitting in lawn chairs, playing with frisbees and such when Talli made a quick cut to the left - right in front of me. Needless to say, I tripped on the leash and did a face-plant into the grass in view of literally a couple hundred local people.

Also rather embarrassing. I haven't jogged her since, actually. Rarely are we on such soft turf.
