Can I continue to add eggs to the bator until noon tomorrow? I have 2 from my hens from today and hopefully I will get a couple more tomorrow. If not thats fine I'll just put them in the fridge.

Also I candled my eggs out of curiosity last night. They were in for 5 days, and I could see veins in all the eggs I could see in... but the air cells were way too big. Which means I guess that my humidity was too low. I raised the humidity, but are those eggs all lost? Or is it possible for them to come back? I hope I didn't mess it all up.

Just add some more... but staggard hatches can be problematic.

Get a good hygrometer and keep the humidity between 30-35% for the first 18 days and you'll be fine.

Nature is very forgiving.

ok, I have a Q. I have a 31 x 31 inch sq size box that is 11 1/2 inchs high that I am using for my incubater, here is my Q. how much water do I need to put in ?? and what should I put the water in ?? oh, and it has a fan in it as well.

Ok. I bought a hygrometer from walmart on day 2-3 and put it in and it said it was at about 28% humidity. BUT it was a cheap one and I was looking at all of them on the shelf and all 5 of them said something different. So I found 2 that were almost the same and picked one... don't know if I picked the right one or not lol.

Even if the eggs I put in later don't hatch I'm fine with that. My husband and son forced me to put the first egg from our hens in and replace one that was already in. (didn't know about stacking at the time) They really didn't care if it was fertile or not... just that we "gave it a shot" lol. My son almost cries when I put one of their eggs in the fridge and my hubby thinks its crazy. I have no drake so every day a duck egg goes in the fridge and I have to explain to my son why it will be a year until we can incubate one of her eggs. *sigh* I'm not going to lie I'm excited about hatching them out myself but I can wait if I need to. My son would be thrilled if one of our eggs hatched though.

I hope nature is super forgiving with me, I have a feeling I'm going to need it with this hatch lol.

I had planned on joining this hatch, but the timing was way off. My niece brought me eggs and the only time she could eat them to me was two weeks ago, and I didn't want to let them set that long, so I went ahead.they are due to hatch the 25 th. I started with 30 and have thrown away 5 that were infertile. My humidity has not been stable. temp has been spot on for the whole time. I was thinking all sorts of crooked wrong when I put the goose eggs in at the same time. I KNEW they should go in a week ahead, but somewhere in my over thinking it, I get twisted and made myself it was ok. So now I have a second incubator warming up and will move the geese to it before lockdown of the chicks. Still not sure how I convinced myself that I could do both. Lol. I borrowed an OLD incubator and have been trying to regulate it for two days. It stays stable just very slow adjustments. And then.... Finally tonight it was at the right temp and I saw that the lid was ajar a bit.. So then it shot up to about 110 . So now in the process of turning it down by increments. I have several days before I have to move them. Sorry to go on and on but just somewhat frustrated..

I got a hygrometer (sp?) from walmart and it is very different reading from the Genesis. I stopped at Petco after work and got a couple of the analog hygrometers in the reptile area, put them in the zip bag with 1/2 cup of salt and 1/4 C water and so far they are reading the same. When I get up in the morning I will check their readings and use them in my bator.

I decided I will not sand the gorgeous BC Marans eggs I got. I will do a traditional hatch and see how that works. This is scary. I have so much money invested on this hatch. But I am hoping with ACCURATE measurements and NOT OPENING THE INCUBATOR AFTER LOCK DOWN that I will have a decent hatch rate.

If I start feeling weak I will post here and you all will have to talk me out of opening the incubator.]

i thought the humidity is suppose to be higher on days 1 theu 18 like around 55 to 55 then on 19 thru 21 hummidity should ne arounf 60 to 65
