I think the best part is the teeth (and food in the chickens mouth)... I giggled when I noticed that. I was going to pair the chick up with George Clooney from his weird face staring at goat days, but then I saw this picture and it was all over...

I'm seriously depressed. I've been tring everything since Thursday to keep my mind off of it, but I just can't. There's a horse free to an experianced horseperson in the local bulletin board and I wish I could get him, but I can't afford feed for another horse. I have my mustang gelding to feed as it is, but I wish I could afford to get the horse from the bulletin board. The add says that if no one takes him, they'll have him put down. I saw that and started bawling. I went on the site to look for a puppy and there he was again. This time with 4 pics. He's beautiful and I'd hate to see that happen to him, but I just can't afford to get him.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to find under this link, but here he is. http://www.thebulletinboard.com/Search.aspx?category=15000&search=free

I can't help it. I'm a sucker for an animal that needs a good home where it will be loved for the rest of it's life.

Here in Nevada we are having a terrible problem with this. Unfortunately this area has been hit very hard by the economy, which so many of you can identify with. Folks that had good jobs a few years ago when they got their animals are now hurting so badly they can't afford to feed them. The horse rescues are full and the situation is getting worse! I have seen pictures of horribly malnourished animals on CL and I'm afraid I feel like it would be better for the poor animals to be put down than to have to die slowly of starvation. It is so sad but it isn't going to go away either. Glad you have accepted that taking this horse would not be a great thing for you, your family or the other animals.

Why we shoot deer in the wild. (A letter from someone who wants to remain anonymous, who farms, writes well and actually tried this)

<snippity do dah>

I finally managed to crawl under the truck and the deer went away.So now I know why when people go deer hunting they bring a rifle with a scope......to sort of even the odds!!

All these events are true so help me God... An Educated Farmer

I am nowhere near caught up but I HAD to pause here to run to the bathroom because I was truly laughing so hard.... to need to do so. If'n you know what I mean. OMG.

...continuing to try to catch up.... now that I am empty.... and in new undies.....

I'm laughing almost as hard at your descriptive post as I did at the story when I first read it!

OK, I've got my celeb look alike... I hatched this chick for Valentines Day, and at first her beak was almost imperceptively crooked, and it continues to get worse. I was hoping it was a boy and I could send him to freezer camp with his brothers, but alas, it's a girl. She'll obviously be joining the rest of my misfit flock, and I hope she lives a good, long life. And doesn't reproduce.

PERFECT ! ! !

I love it ! ! !

Snort alert, for sure!

****Jesse's Hatching update****
Well as luck would have it all has been going well with my incubator. But, when I got home today after college today the power was out to my house! I asked my daughter who was home sick how long it had been out and she stated that it was about 20 to 30 minutes which converts to ????? in teenage time. It's freezing outside and snowing like a bandit . So being the fanatic I am I run downstairs to check my incubator temp and the chicks in my brooder pen. The chicks were all huddled together and the house temp was about 50 deg. So now I am getting ready to cry. I run over to my Fridgbator and the temp is 93/94 degrees I am sure the neighbors heard my sigh of relief there. So I then run to the shed dig out the camping generator and fire it up and plug in the bator and brood lights. Catastrophe averted

The power came back on about two hours later!!!!!! WHEW!!!!

I moved a bunch of eggs over to the hatcher. They are FCBMs from BostonBryce and some BBS ameracuanas from Pam the breeder of BFE Phoenix (I don't think she is on BYC anywhere)

The eggs would have been fine. One of my broody's quit on her eggs and I waited till it was dark (3 hours later) to see where she would roost for the night. I brought them in and candled. (they were cold to the touch.) Every single one of them had veins and the chicks were moving.
