Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Honestly, I don't miss the diaper years at all, well, if I could skip the diapers and the sleepless nights and just hold a little one.

That would be grandchildren

OK, I've got my celeb look alike... I hatched this chick for Valentines Day, and at first her beak was almost imperceptively crooked, and it continues to get worse. I was hoping it was a boy and I could send him to freezer camp with his brothers, but alas, it's a girl. She'll obviously be joining the rest of my misfit flock, and I hope she lives a good, long life. And doesn't reproduce.

Another good one!

Except when you are babysitting and I don't know how the kids get their little ones to save it all up for you but MAN!!! I swear that's exactly what they are doing sometimes! Haha It's no biggy though. If this is the worst life throws at me I am doing WELL!!!

Thank you again for the awesome cliff notes, dsqard!

I am loving all the celebrity photos. I wonder if chestnutridge is going to put up another candling photo? (small hint).

I know it is best for me to not mess with the eggs everyday, but is there a suggested day(s) that candling should be done? I will do it right before lockdown, but would like to check earlier, as well. Also, my shipped eggs with bad air cells, - I have not turned them at all, but will probably start turning on day 6 or 7. Is it best not to touch them at all? I did take a sneak peak yesterday, but I'm worried about doing damage.

It will be early bedtime for me. I am toast.

One of my hens just bit me! Shes never bit me before! I was about to move them from their bomb shelter to their coop and stopped to pet them a second, I barely touched her and she bit me! It really hurt my feelings.

I don't know why but it did. LOL I don't know whats gotten into her. during the day none of the let me pet them but at night they seem to enjoy it.

I love all the celeb lookalikes! This one was an occasion for new undies for me....gryeyes, you're not alone.....

IF I candle, I don't until day 10 or 12, and then MAYBE again at lockdown. In the first case, I prefer to be able to REALLY see development or not, and in the second, I sometimes just cross my fingers and don't candle then at all.

I prefer to be disappointed only once, and if I candle and find non-developed eggs or "dead" ones, it makes me sad. IF, at day 25 - yes, day 25 - there are un-hatched eggs, then that's the disappointment I'm ready to handle.

Because, you see, I am pleased if I get even ONE chick - and two chicks is a GOOD hatch, regardless of the number of eggs set. (That's just me... I may be out money for the eggs, but if I have two miracles, it's hard to be disappointed about the rest of the eggs that didn't hatch.)
