Have you candled yet?

Lark Rise,
of course not,but i usually candle earlier than this.
i want to but by the time all the chores are done and kids in the bed,i don't think about it until late, like 3 am.i don't need to be handling eggs at 3am.lol

Time flies doesn't it, lock down is just 7 days away!!!!! That is none too soon for me; I never candle until lock down, the 84 I set for this hatch had many mutt pullet eggs, some over three weeks old, took up half my incubating space, and of course now both the project birds and show Cornish are laying. I already have more than enough that I really want to hatch to finish filling the incubator this Saturday, so was tempted to candle today, but decided just to wait as I always have, seeing as I will finally have the cabinet half empty next week.

Of the dozen eggs gathered and set two weeks before the Easter hatch, I only had two go to lock down, and only one hatch............................... an Easter Egger instead of an Ameraucana..................................... which meant a trip to TSC to buy the minimum 6 chicks to keep it company.

Over 60 chickens to feed, over 160 eggs cooking or about to be set, and I bought chicks.

What was wrong with my head?

Marking my spot! I candled last night and disposed of 8 eggs, so 68 still in the bator. About 2 dozen are dark shelled and I couldn't see a thing so who knows what is going on in them and another 14 I couldn't really decide, so left them in. These were all shipped eggs, so I expect lots more will turn out to be duds in the end.

Back to reading.

I have one more entry for the egg art contest I need to work on and I need to get start on a story for next weeks short story contest. Less than 500 words. Uh oh, I'm used to writing over 2,000 per chapter to a story.

OH NO!! devastating news. I came home from work today to find my incubatar OFF!!! Went and checked the circuit breaker and somehow the circuit had blown. Could have gone off anytime in the last 12-15 hours. When I got home and realized the incubator temp was 75 degrees when I flipped the switch back on. This is only my second hatch. I have 45 eggs incubating. What are my chances that eggs will still hatch? Do I have any hope? Any advice wether hopeful or realistic would be helpful. So bummed right now. Is there anything I should do?
