Well it is a good thing I came back to read the weather report before I started taking more pisc for the contest...or else I would have made a goof ball of myself by posting more pics.
Thanks NotAFarm for keeping me straight!
btw - How does reading the weather report coincide with taking pictures of chics for BYC, you ask?
Well....first off doesn't everything revolve around BYC?
Second, we are working outside on the duck house; putting in roosts and nests for the chickens and I needed to see how much longer we had for the storm to roll in.....and because I was on the PC, I had to check BYC.....right?

We ran out to the barn really quickly before church this morning and the two boys were up and wobbling..
The little girl is still extremely weak.. I stayed up till 1:30 with her, got up at 5:30 to feed her and she does seem to be getting a little stronger but still isn't standing.. Just now, she ate pretty good.. hopefully she'll keep getting stronger..
I'm heading out to the barn now and we'll get some more pictures...
Admit I've not read every single post, but with that said ~ I have a question ~ have any of you raised only the broilers or heavies? We have so many varmints here way out in the country (without a dog anymore) that I just can't make anything safe enough to try the whole chicken raising experience again cuz the losses are huge and so very sad.
Thinking that the 3 months of raising only meat birds just might make it through. Any suggestions, advise or comments? All are welcome and thank you in advance!
I feel like I do after a particularly good book or movie is over but I'm still wondering what the characters are doing now. . . I'm wondering what you characters are up to
DO you use a supplement on the weak kids? Like a vit E/ selenium in a basic vit/ min base? I had a few weak lambs this year--the first time ever in all the years lambing. I could only think of white muscles disease etc. , not saying the little girl has this, just the circumstances triggered thinking of the supplement to ward off the possibilities.
Thanks for the prayers... as far as supplements.. This is my first goat experience... so all I am doing is giving her colustrum from mom.. Where would I get a supplement?
See if you can get some Bo-Se from a vet or another goat breeder. If you haven't already they should have a bit of that especially if they are a bit weak. Also, you can get stuff called Power Punch from tractor supply or a nutra-drench....works wonders!! Good luck! I raise Alpines and mini-Alpines and we've learned alot about goats in the 6 or so years we've been at it.
