Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad you joined.
I've only done it once. I ordered hatching eggs from a private breeder in Indiana. Shipped to NY. All 6 eggs started to develop in an incubator. Transferred to a broody hen at day 7. Five hatched. Four pullets, one cockerel.
Hello, if you'd like to ask other member's experiences with shipped eggs, I'm sure you'll get the good & the bad here: Incubating & Hatching Eggs And other members can share tips on how to ensure your best result with shipped eggs.
Welcome if I get a hatch rate of 25% from shipped eggs I'm happy. Sometimes it's the only option though. Order and set a lot more than you think you need to get a decent number to actually hatch. Next time I get shipped eggs I plan to order 24 and from that I hope to get about 5 live chicks.
Howdy, Welcome to Backyard Chickens. Enjoy your time here! @sourland , has giving an excellent answer! It really is a crap shoot. Good luck with your eggs.
