mail versus feed store chicks

thanks everyone. Mark--when I posted I had looked at the local feed store website and saw no info on chickens or poultry products. That's why I asked about TSC. Since then I have called the local store and asked. They have chicks (right now in the store) and supplies.

It's all I can do not to go down there!! I plan to get most of our products there (feed, etc) and get to know them, for the exact reasons you shared. I have found out all through life it is not what you know but who you know and knowing the right people can really help. Not to mention I would rather support a locally owned business.

So I sit and do my best not to go down there. I was going to call and ask about breeds, but then I may run over and get chicks. Aahhhh.....I want my chicks!! I keep telling myself to be patient!

I may still order my first batch so I can get the breeds I want. We'll see......
